Phone lines are open for appointments from 07:00, Monday to Friday. The practice is open as below:

Tuesday – 08:00 to 18:30

When the practice is closed, we recommend calling 111 for non-emergency medical needs and 999 for emergencies. There are also urgent treatment centres or A&E if you need to be seen urgently.

GP Care Wakefield is an extended out of hours service owned by Wakefield GP Practices to cover the entire population of the Wakefield district on an evening, weekends and Bank Holidays. Its operating hours are shown in the following table

Our Practice telephones will automatically divert during the GP Care Wakefield opening times. At other times during the night and weekends, please telephone 111. Alternatively, ring back during normal Practice opening hours if your need is not urgent.

Following triage of your problem, if deemed appropriate, the service will offer you a GP appointment at Trinity Medical Centre, Wakefield or Pontefract General Infirmary.

There needs to be shared consent in place for the service to be able to provide safe care. Please ensure you give explicit record sharing consent when accepting an appointment with the service. Patients who prefer not to give shared consent cannot access this service.

This service is not available for routine matters such as repeat prescriptions.

NHS 111

NHS 111 (Help Line) provides a national 24 hour a day, 7 days a week confidential health line, staffed by experienced nurses. They can be contacted on 111 and their helpline is a valuable source of information and advice. Call to 111 are free from both land lines and mobiles.

Please note – this NHS 111 number can be used to phone in the case of an urgent problem when the surgery is closed.

Walk-in Centre

Patients also have the option of visiting the local NHS Walk-In Centre at King Street Health Centre in Wakefield, WF1 2SN. The Walk-In Centre is open 7 days a week, 10:00 – 22:00.

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
